excellent with one shortcoming

So far I have done the first few readings. I like the book overall -- the graduated, varied readings and Gary King's notes on grammar and construction.
There is one big shortcoming: most of the readings are printed on a gray background!! This makes it hard to pencil-in vocab, for those of us who are still at the level of using the dictionary for half of the words. So I am using other books (such as Nofelau Nawr) to build vocab and a sense of flow, and will return to this later on.
It would be better to have the readings printed on white, with lots of white space around them, and to use pleasant, legible fonts with wide line spacing such as 1.5 or even double spacing.
