About the Author
Sue Harrison grew up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and graduated summa cum laude from Lake Superior State University with a bachelor of arts degree in English language and literature. At age twenty-seven, inspired by the cold Upper Michigan forest that surrounded her home, and the outdoor survival skills she had learned from her father and her husband, Harrison began researching the people who understood best how to live in a harsh environment: the North American native peoples. She studied six Native American languages and completed extensive research on culture, geography, archaeology, and anthropology during the nine years she spent writing her first novel, Mother Earth Father Sky, the extraordinary story of a woman’s struggle for survival in the last Ice Age. A national and international bestseller, and selected by the American Library Association as one of the Best Books for Young Adults in 1991, Mother Earth Father Sky is the first novel in Harrison’s critically acclaimed Ivory Carver Trilogy, which includes My Sister the Moon and Brother Wind. It was nice to have some closure on the story characters. Easy and entertaining to read, I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys historical fiction.

Struggle to Survive

Wonderful insight into life among the tribes of Alaska. The author seems to have done an amazing amount of research into ancient times and the hardships of the tribes in Alaska. The author gives a wonderful rendition of the strong bond between Aqamdax and Chakliux. The superstitions that prevailed and seemed to dominate the lives of the Alaskan inhabitants was unbelievable. I read all three books and find each one a wonderful trip back in time and into the constant struggle to simply survive.

Sue earns anothe 5 stars

Sue Harrison is a real master story teller. I gave this tale 5 stars for it's exciting drama and life and death survival as well as it's very believable and well researched character of the ancient nort west. You will be so caught up in the tale that you won't be able to put it down.
I have read all of Sues books and the are equally exciting. You will love them all.
